Overview

The BlueTap (A01) payment terminal is an all-in-one device that accepts multiple payment methods including QR codes, contactless cards, chip cards, and digital wallets. This guide covers unboxing, setup, and management within your EPOS360 system.

  • Front-of-House Staff who need to understand basic device operation and troubleshooting.


Before You Begin

  • Verify Package Contents: Ensure you have all items listed below.

  • Prepare Connectivity: Have your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password ready, or an active Nano-SIM card.

  • Permissions: You need administrative access to the EPOS360 Hardware settings to pair the device.

Initial Setup & Power Management

Step 1: Install the SIM Card (Optional but Recommended)

For the most stable connection, use a Nano-SIM card.

  1. Open the Terminal: Locate the cover latch on the back. Gently open the rear cover. You may need to temporarily remove the battery to access the SIM slot.

  2. Access the SIM Slot: Find the SIM card compartment. Slide the SIM lock to the "OPEN" position.

  3. Insert the SIM: Place the Nano-SIM card with the gold contacts facing down. Align the notched corner with the slot and gently press until it clicks into place.

  4. Secure the SIM: Slide the lock back to the "LOCK" position.

  5. Reassemble: Reconnect the battery if removed and close the cover securely.

Step 2: Connect the Battery

  1. Open the terminal cover as in Step 1.

  2. Locate the battery connector inside the terminal.

  3. Connect the battery plug to the terminal socket, ensuring correct orientation.

  4. Close the cover securely.

Step 3: Power On the Device

  1. Locate the power button (typically on the side or top).

  2. Press and hold for 3-5 seconds until the screen lights up.

  3. Initial boot may take 30-60 seconds.

💡 Pro Tip: For stationary use (like a counter), keep the BlueTap connected to power via the provided USB cable for uninterrupted operation. On a full charge, the battery provides approximately 4 hours of life.


How to Pair BlueTap with EPOS360

Step 1: Access Hardware Settings in the EPOS360 App

  1. In the EPOS360 app, tap "More" in the main navigation.

  2. Tap "Hardware."

  3. Tap "BlueTap."

  4. Tap "Add BlueTap."

Step 2: Initiate Pairing & Scan QR Code

  1. Grant camera permissions when prompted. This is essential for scanning.

  2. On the BlueTap screen, wait until you see a pairing QR code

  3. Using the EPOS360 app's camera, align the QR code within the frame. It will scan automatically.

Step 3: Configure Connectivity (Optional)

After scanning, the app will detect the device's connection status.

  • If Connected (via SIM or Wi-Fi): Pairing process can begin automatically.

  • If Not Connected:

    • Option A (SIM): Insert a SIM card (see Step 1 above) and tap "I have inserted SIM card."

    • Option B (Wi-Fi):

      • Select "Connect using Wi-Fi."

      • Choose your network connection method.

      • You can either select from available networks or manually enter your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password. The app will generate a network QR code.

      • Position the QR code within BlueTap's front camera view

      • Wait for a beep or confirmation. Pairing will complete once connected.


How to Manage Your BlueTap in EPOS360

  1. Go to More > Hardware > BlueTap.

  2. Select your paired device to access management options:

    1. Update Wi-Fi Network: Tap "Device Network" to change the Wi-Fi connection. Follow the same process as initial setup.

    2. Update Terminal Password: Tap "Terminal Passcode" to set or change the 6-digit PIN required to perform refunds or administrative tasks directly on the BlueTap device.

    3. Unpair Device: Tap "Unpair Device." Note: You may need to contact EPOS360 support at [email protected] to complete this process.


Best Practices & Troubleshooting

Environmental & Placement:

  • Temperature: Operate between -10°C to 50°C.

  • Surface: Place on a stable, flat surface during transactions.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Device Won't Power On:

    1. Ensure the battery is connected properly. Try connecting the USB cable directly to a power outlet.

  2. No Internet Connection" Error:

    1. Check SIM card installation or Wi-Fi credentials. Restart both the BlueTap and your router.

  3. Failed to Pair/Scan QR Code:

    1. Ensure the BlueTap is on the pairing screen, the camera lens is clean, and you have granted camera permissions to the EPOS360 app.

  4. Unable to connect:

    1. Perform a hard reboot by powering off the BlueTap. Open the rear cover and disconnect the battery connector. Wait for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery firmly. Close the cover power the device back on.
