Best Practices for Groups & Modifiers
Use clear group names like Toppings, Size, Add-ons, Preferences.
Use consistent naming for modifiers (e.g., “Extra Shot” instead of “1 Extra Shot”).
Limit the number of choices to avoid overwhelming customers.
Use selection rules carefully to prevent errors (e.g., forcing size choices).
Place popular options at the top of the group.
Use pricing on modifiers strategically to increase order value.
Assign groups only to relevant items to avoid clutter in the checkout screen.
Troubleshooting
Group not appearing during checkout
Ensure at least one item is assigned to that group.
Check selection rules (Min/Max) for conflicts.
Confirm the group is active and fully saved.
Unable to delete a group
Remove all modifiers inside the group first.
Check that no items are still referencing the group.
Modifiers are showing in the wrong order
Reopen the group and reorder using the drag handle (≡).
Tap Save after reordering.
Group changes not syncing
Wait a few minutes for sync to complete.
Check for internet connection issues.
Recommendations
Create groups before adding items to speed up item creation.
Keep groups simple—customers prefer fewer, clearer choices.
Review modifier popularity monthly to remove low-performing options.
Use pricing on modifiers to drive upsells (e.g., Add Cheese +$1).
Duplicate common groups (e.g., Drink Sizes) to reuse across new menu items.
